Our car is perpetually full of sand from the beach down the road, we're building our life here, and I run into people I know every single time I leave the house. There's a particular kind of family that puts down roots in Alameda and stays: people who know their neighbors, who walk to the farmers market, who have found their people here.

Alameda is one of my favorite places to photograph families — and not just because it's my backyard. Alameda Beach is a gem that most Bay Area families don't know about — easily accessible, far less crowded than other Bay Area beaches, and absolutely beautiful in the late afternoon light. Kids come alive the moment their feet hit the sand and the whole session takes on an energy that's impossible to manufacture anywhere else.
Beyond the beach, Alameda's parks, tree-lined neighborhoods, and open spaces offer incredible variety for family sessions. And when you want something completely different, the East Bay is right there — Lafayette, Mt. Diablo, Oakland's redwoods & rose garden, and dozens of other stunning locations are all within easy reach.
I guide families into movement rather than poses — observing how you naturally interact and then creating moments that feel true to who you are. What location is best in Alameda?
Yes! I have two of my own, volunteer weekly in a school classroom of 3-5 year olds, was a former elementary volunteer and now primarily photograph younger families. While some children may need time to warm up to the camera, I know we will be able to capture memories you'll cherish during our session.
