I didn't just visit San Francisco — I lived it.
The Marina in my twenties, running over the bridge past Crissy Field before it was even a thought that one day I'd be photographing families there. Nob Hill in my early thirties, running the hills and discovering every neighborhood corner. Noe Valley when life got a little more settled and a family started to feel like the next chapter. I genuinely thought I would raise my girls in the city — and while Alameda won in the end, San Francisco never really left me.

I still bring my daughters to picnic in Golden Gate Park — sandwiches from a bodega nearby, eaten on the grass, followed by whatever is in bloom and inevitably some fairy games among the flowers. The city I fell in love with in my twenties is the same city I now get to photograph families in as a San Francisco newborn and family photographer. That history shows up in every session.

In-home newborn sessions come to you — no studio logistics, no travel stress in those first weeks home with a new baby. II'll find the light in your home and create something you'll treasure. Your house doesn't need to be perfect. You just had a baby — I'm there for you and that little one, nothing else.

Everything you need to know about in-home newborn sessions

San Francisco in-home, lifestyle newborn photography

Few cities photograph as beautifully for maternity as San Francisco. Baker Beach for that iconic Golden Gate backdrop. Lands End at golden hour. The Japanese Tea Garden during cherry blossom season — the color, the light filtering through the blossoms, the sense of something fleeting and beautiful that mirrors this season perfectly. San Francisco's famously soft light makes it stunning year round, Karl included.

Maternity photography

Lover's Lane for dramatic trees and winding trails. Crissy Field for the Golden Gate backdrop with open space for kids to run freely. Golden Gate Park for something completely different depending on the season.

I guide families into movement rather than poses — the running, the laughing, the totally ignoring the camera. San Francisco's natural beauty does the rest.

Let's Connect

San Francisco has a reputation for fog and grey skies — and honestly, that soft diffused light is a photographer's dream. There is no harsh midday sun, no blown out skies. Just clean, even, beautiful light that works in every season and at almost any time of day.

Spring brings cherry blossoms and wildflowers. Summer has that golden afternoon light before the fog rolls in. Fall is warm and clear. Even winter has a moody, dramatic quality that works beautifully for maternity sessions. There is no bad time to photograph in San Francisco — just different kinds of beautiful.

THANK YOU!

If you’re looking for family photos that feel natural and reflective of this stage of life,

I’ll be in touch within 48 hours to begin planning something meaningful together.

The sweet spot for those sleepy newborn photos is typically 7-14 days old. If that timeframe does not work for your family, you haven't missed your chance. Honor your family's timeline. Babies older than one month will offer more eye contact, connection and potentially sweet smiles.

When should i book a San Francisco newborn photographer?

All of them! I've photographed families in Noe Valley, the Mission, Pacific Heights, Cole Valley, the Haight, Inner Sunset, Outer Sunset, the Castro, SoMa, Mission Bay, and beyond. For outdoor family sessions, there are many locations throughout the city.

What San Francisco neighborhoods do you photograph in?

Wardrobe greatly impacts the results of your images. I provide detailed tips on styling your family, and am available to help you coordinate outfits so everyone looks and feels beautifully in sync.

Do you offer styling?

Yes — I regularly photograph newborns in San Francisco homes and serve all SF neighborhoods including Noe Valley, Pacific Heights, the Mission, Cole Valley, the Haight, Inner Sunset, and Mission Bay. Newborn sessions come to you, wherever home is in the city.

Do you travel to san Francisco homes for newborn sessions?

Baker Beach is one recommendation for families — the Golden Gate backdrop is stunning, and the light in the late afternoon is beautiful almost year-round. The Japanese Tea Garden is magical during cherry blossom season (book early for spring). I'll help you choose based on your vision and the time of year.

What are the best locations for maternity photos in San Francisco?

Yes! I have two of my own, volunteer weekly in a school classroom of 3-5 year olds, was a former elementary volunteer and now primarily photograph younger families. While some children may need time to warm up to the camera, I know we will be able to capture memories you'll cherish during our session.
