San Francisco Newborn &  Family photographer

I didn't just visit San Francisco — I lived it.
The Marina in my twenties, running over the bridge past Crissy Field before it was even a thought that one day I'd be photographing families there. Nob Hill in my early thirties, running the hills and discovering every neighborhood corner. Noe Valley when life got a little more settled and a family started to feel like the next chapter. I genuinely thought I would raise my girls in the city — and while Alameda won in the end, San Francisco never really left me.

I still bring my daughters to picnic in Golden Gate Park — sandwiches from a bodega nearby, eaten on the grass, followed by whatever is in bloom and inevitably some fairy games among the flowers. The city I fell in love with in my twenties is the same city I now get to photograph families in as a San Francisco newborn and family photographer. That history shows up in every session.

A CITY THAT NEVER LEAVES YOU —
EVEN WHEN YOU LEAVE IT

For new families in San Francisco, I offer relaxed in-home newborn sessions that come to you. I know San Francisco neighborhoods well — from the sunny flats of Noe Valley to the Victorian light of the Haight to the sweeping views from Pacific Heights and the cozy warmth of Cole Valley homes. Whatever your home looks like, I'll work with its natural light to create something beautiful and true to your space.

As your San Francisco newborn photographer, I bring everything to you — no studio logistics, no travel stress in the first weeks home with a new baby. Whether you're in the Mission, the Inner Sunset, Cole Valley, or Mission Bay, I'll find the light in your home and create something you'll treasure. I recommend booking by your third trimester. Your house doesn't need to be perfect. You just had a baby — I'm there for you and that little one, nothing else.

San Francisco in-home, lifestyle newborn photography

There are few cities in the world that photograph as beautifully for maternity as San Francisco. Lands End at golden hour, the Japanese Tea Garden during cherry blossom season, the sweeping views of the Golden Gate from Baker Beach — every location tells a different story and creates something genuinely breathtaking. As a San Francisco maternity photographer, I'll help you find the setting that fits this season of your life.

The Japanese Tea Garden in cherry blossom season is particularly special for maternity — the color, the light filtering through the blossoms, the sense of something fleeting and beautiful that mirrors this season of life perfectly. It fills up quickly in spring so early booking is essential if that's the vision. Baker's Beach is gorgeous almost all year round, excluding the days Karl rolls in.

Maternity sessions are best scheduled between 28 and 34 weeks. San Francisco's famously soft light — even on overcast days — makes it a beautiful city to photograph in year round.

San Francisco
Maternity photography

San Francisco is one of the most diverse and beautiful cities in the world for outdoor family photography — and I mean that in every sense. The light, the landscapes, the variety of settings available within a single city block — there is nowhere else quite like it.

My favorite San Francisco locations for family sessions include Lands End with its dramatic coastal views and winding trails, Crissy Field for that iconic Golden Gate backdrop with open space for kids to run freely, and Golden Gate Park which offers something completely different depending on the season and the mood you're going for. As your San Francisco family photographer, I'll help you choose the right location based on your family's energy, your kids' ages, and the feeling you want to walk away with.

I guide families into movement rather than poses — observing how you naturally interact and then creating moments that feel true to who you are. San Francisco's natural beauty does the rest.
While these are my favorite San Francisco locations, I work throughout the Bay Area and am happy to travel and suggest locations for wherever feels right for your family.

Let's Connect

San Francisco has a reputation for fog and grey skies — and honestly, that soft diffused light is a photographer's dream. There is no harsh midday sun, no blown out skies. Just clean, even, beautiful light that works in every season and at almost any time of day.

Spring brings cherry blossoms and wildflowers. Summer has that golden afternoon light before the fog rolls in. Fall is warm and clear. Even winter has a moody, dramatic quality that works beautifully for maternity sessions. There is no bad time to photograph in San Francisco — just different kinds of beautiful.

THANK YOU!

If you’re looking for family photos that feel natural and reflective of this stage of life,
I’d love to work with you.

Share a bit about your family, the season you’re in, and what you’re hoping to remember most.
I’ll be in touch within 48 hours to begin planning something meaningful together.

The sweet spot for those sleepy newborn photos is typically 7-14 days old. If that timeframe does not work for your family, you haven't missed your chance. Honor your family's timeline. Babies older than one month will offer more eye contact, connection and potentially sweet smiles.

When should i book a San Francisco newborn photographer?

All of them! I've photographed families in Noe Valley, the Mission, Pacific Heights, Cole Valley, the Haight, Inner Sunset, Outer Sunset, the Castro, SoMa, Mission Bay, and beyond. For outdoor family sessions, I know the best spots in every corner of the city.

What San Francisco neighborhoods do you photograph in?

Wardrobe greatly impacts the results of your images. I provide detailed tips on styling your family, and am available to help you coordinate outfits so everyone looks and feels beautifully in sync.

Do you offer styling?

Yes — I regularly photograph newborns in San Francisco homes and serve all SF neighborhoods including Noe Valley, Pacific Heights, the Mission, Cole Valley, the Haight, Inner Sunset, and Mission Bay. Newborn sessions come to you, wherever home is in the city.

Do you travel to san Francisco homes for newborn sessions?

Baker Beach is my top recommendation for most families — the Golden Gate backdrop is stunning, and the light in the late afternoon is beautiful almost year-round. The Japanese Tea Garden is magical during cherry blossom season (book early for spring). Lands End offers dramatic coastal views and is beautiful in any season. I'll help you choose based on your vision and the time of year.

What are the best locations for maternity photos in San Francisco?

Yes! I have two of my own, volunteer weekly in a school classroom of 3-5 year olds, was a former elementary volunteer and now primarily photograph younger families. While some children may need time to warm up to the camera, I know we will be able to capture memories you'll cherish during our session.
