Our car is constantly full of sand. That should tell you everything.
I grew up by the beach and my girls have inherited every bit of that love. We go often — even on the colder days — just to play in the sand, chase seagulls, and explore. The beach has always been a happy place for our family, and it shows up in every session I shoot there.
When you bring kids to the beach something shifts. They stop thinking about the camera entirely. They run toward the water, dig in the sand, laugh at the waves. That freedom and joy is exactly what I'm there to capture — and it makes my job feel almost too easy.
And for expecting mamas? The coast does something completely different — the open sky, the golden light, the sense of vastness that somehow makes this season feel even more significant. The beach holds space for all of it.
The beach is honestly one of my favorite settings for family sessions — and not just because it's beautiful. Kids are genuinely happy at the beach. They have something to do, somewhere to run, and zero interest in standing still for photos. That energy is exactly what I work with.
I guide families into movement rather than poses — observing how you naturally interact and then creating moments that feel true to who you are. At the beach that comes naturally. The sand, the water, the light — it does half the work before I even lift my camera.
Some of my favorite Bay Area beach locations for family sessions include Baker Beach, Rodeo Beach, Alameda Beach and beaches near Half Moon Bay — each with a completely different feel and backdrop. I'll help you choose the right one based on your family's vibe, the season, and the mood you're going for.
While these are my favorite beach locations, I work throughout the Bay Area and am happy to travel and suggest locations for wherever feels right for your family.
There is something about the ocean that feels perfectly matched to maternity photography. The vastness of it, the movement, the light bouncing off the water — it creates images that feel emotional and expansive in a way that's hard to replicate anywhere else.
Rodeo Beach is a particular favorite for maternity — dramatic, moody, and breathtaking in a way that feels unlike anywhere else in the Bay Area. Baker Beach offers the iconic Golden Gate backdrop for something more classic and sweeping. The beaches near Half Moon Bay bring a wild, romantic coastal feel that photographs beautifully at golden hour.
Maternity sessions are best scheduled between 28 and 34 weeks. Beach sessions work beautifully almost year round in the Bay Area — the softer light of overcast days can be just as stunning as golden hour, sometimes more so.
Let's Connect
The beach is one of the few places where everything just falls into place. The light is beautiful. The backdrop is timeless. And children — every single one of them — come alive the moment their feet hit the sand.
The beach does something to families that no amount of posing or directing can manufacture. People relax. Kids play. Parents stop worrying. And that's exactly when the magic happens.
I have received your message and will get back to you as soon as possible within 1-2 business days. I cannot wait to chat with you!
