Oakland is practically my backyard. As an Alameda-based newborn and family photographer, I'm in Oakland constantly — for sessions at the rose garden, weekend walks through Rockridge, coffee on Piedmont Avenue, afternoons at Lake Merritt, and hikes in Oakland Hills. Oakland is not a market I drive into from somewhere else. It's the city just across the estuary that I know genuinely and photograph with real familiarity.
I offer in-home lifestyle newborn photography and outdoor family and maternity sessions throughout Oakland — from the craftsman-lined streets of Rockridge and the leafy calm of Temescal to the Grand Lake neighborhood, the hills above Montclair, and everywhere in between. If you're looking for an Oakland newborn photographer who actually knows your neighborhood, I'm right here.
For new families in Oakland, I offer relaxed in-home lifestyle newborn sessions that come to you, in Oakland homes across Rockridge, Temescal, the Grand Lake neighborhood, Montclair, Piedmont Avenue and beyond. I know how to find the light in any home, in any neighborhood.
In-home sessions are calm, unhurried, and completely led by your baby. There is something so right about documenting a brand-new baby in the home you've prepared for them — the natural light through your windows, the familiar surroundings, the quiet intimacy of those first days. No studio, no travel when you're exhausted and postpartum. Just you, your baby, and their first home.
For families who'd like something a little different, I also offer outdoor newborn sessions at a nearby garden in warmer months — a stunning alternative for those who want something beyond the home setting.
As your Oakland newborn photographer, I recommend booking by your third trimester to secure your spot. Sessions are typically scheduled within the first two weeks after birth. Your house doesn't need to be spotless — you just had a baby, and I'm there for you and that little one, nothing else.
Oakland's parks, rose gardens, and redwood-lined hills make it a stunning city for maternity photography. The Oakland Rose Garden at golden hour is one of my favorite maternity locations— warm, lush, and genuinely breathtaking in late spring and summer. For something more dramatic, the hills above Montclair and the open spaces of Joaquin Miller Park offer incredible natural light and a sense of expansiveness that suits the bigness of this season.
Maternity sessions are best scheduled between 28 and 34 weeks. I'll help you choose a location that fits both the mood you're going for and the time of year, and I also travel outside of Oakland to locations across the Bay Area.
Oakland has some of the most beautiful outdoor locations in the entire Bay Area for family photography — and far fewer crowds than you'd find across the bay. The Oakland Rose Garden is one of my favorite local locations for family sessions: the light through the roses and trellises in late afternoon is genuinely magical, and kids find something to explore around every corner. The Redwood Regional Park offers towering trees and dappled light for families who want something dramatic and natural.
Beyond these, Oakland's neighborhood parks are genuinely underrated for family sessions — spots like Dracena Park in Piedmont, tucked right on the Oakland border, offer that quiet, leafy beauty that photographs beautifully without the crowds of more well-known locations. As your Oakland family photographer, I'll help you choose the right location based on your family's personality and what kind of images you want to walk away with.
I guide families into movement rather than poses — observing how you naturally interact and then creating moments that feel true to who you are. The running, the laughing, the totally ignoring the camera — that's exactly where the best photos live.
Let's Connect
You don't need your kids to behave a certain way for the session to work. They don't need to sit still, smile on cue, or interact perfectly with each other. I guide when needed, but mostly I'm paying attention to how your family already works together — that's where the connection worth remembering comes from.
As a Bay Area mom of two, I get it.
Based in nearby Alameda, I serve families throughout Oakland and the wider East Bay — including Rockridge, Temescal, Grand Lake, Montclair, Piedmont Avenue, the hills, and beyond. I also serve Berkeley, Piedmont, Emeryville, and the rest of the East Bay.
Family and maternity sessions take place outdoors at locations across the Bay Area. Newborn sessions come to you, wherever home is.
I have received your message and will get back to you as soon as possible within 1-2 business days. I cannot wait to chat with you!
THANK YOU!
If you’re looking for family photos that feel natural and reflective of this stage of life, I’d love to work with you.
Share a bit about your family, the season you’re in, and what you’re hoping to remember most.
I’ll be in touch within 48 hours to begin planning something meaningful together.
I recommend reaching out during your second or third trimester — ideally by week 28 to 30. This gives us time to plan timing and logistics before baby arrives. I stay flexible around your due date and confirm the session once your little one is here.
Alameda and Oakland are just minutes apart, literally across the estuary. For in-home newborn sessions in Oakland, I'm typically at your door in 10 to 15 minutes. Being local matters: it means faster response times, genuine familiarity with your neighborhood, and a photographer who is truly part of this community.
Wardrobe greatly impacts the results of your images. I provide detailed tips on styling your family, and am available to help you coordinate outfits so everyone looks and feels beautifully in sync.
Yes — I regularly photograph newborns in Oakland homes throughout Rockridge, Temescal, Grand Lake, Montclair, Piedmont Avenue, and the surrounding neighborhoods. I come to you, work with your home's natural light, and create images that feel true to your space and this moment in your family's life.
The Oakland Rose Garden is beautiful in late spring when the roses are in full bloom. Redwood Regional Park is stunning for families who want something dramatic and forested. I'm also happy to shoot at your family's favorite local park — sometimes the most meaningful location is simply where you already spend your time together.
Yes! I have two of my own, volunteer weekly in a school classroom of 3-5 year olds, was a former elementary volunteer and now primarily photograph younger families. While some children may need time to warm up to the camera, I know we will be able to capture memories you'll cherish during our session.
