I don't just shoot at Filoli, I spend time there. My daughters and I visit at least once a month, wandering the gardens, playing in the flowers, pretending we're fairies. It's one of our favorite places in the Bay Area and it has been long before I ever brought a camera there professionally.
That familiarity changes everything. I know where the light falls in the late afternoon. I know which gardens feel most magical for families with young children. I know the corners that feel tucked away and intimate, and the wide open spaces that make you feel like you're somewhere far away from ordinary life. When I bring a family to Filoli, I'm not navigating a new location. I'm sharing a place I genuinely love.
